Our Global Network Engineering & Operations team is responsible for the Disney Global Network, the Studio Production Network and many other worldwide networks that support film-making, sports, parks, resorts and all of the departments that make our businesses run. We’re on the lookout for a Network Engineer with exceptional advanced troubleshooting skills to join us.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for designing, planning and executing complex projects, the Network Engineer will:
Analyse evolving security threats, technologies and industry trends
Act as an escalation point for other Tier 1 and 2 Network Support Engineers
Support multiple teams dedicated to building and operating core network infrastructure
Collaborate with other Engineering teams to automate various processes, aid in capacity planning and implementations
Engineer and deploy scalable and flexible high-performance and high-availability network infrastructure
Act as the liaison between critical production engineering groups
Generate and maintain quality documentation on network issues, updates, root cause analysis, troubleshooting techniques and network analysis including diagrams and templates
Ensure reliable operation of systems and infrastructure software by designing and implementing network, instrumentation and management tools in order to predict, quickly diagnose and resolve abnormal network behaviour
Serve as Tier 2 support for systems, media, storage and cloud operations engineers
Interface with other Disney entities and their networks to support cross-segment workflows, file transport and other sharing of media assets, devices and infrastucture
Required Skills & Experience:
Strong, demonstrable experience in engineering and operations for a Studio, ISP or a major enterprise network in a 7 x 24 x 365 environment
Experience working in a multi-vendor network environment (Juniper, Arista, Cisco, Brocade, Palo Alto, F5, Infinera, Ciena)
Consistent track record of implementing large-scale and mission-critical networks
Experience running and supporting high availability infrastructure
Experience with configuration management systems such as Ansible or Terraform
Working experience with public cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, and/or GCP)
Experience implementing, maintaining, monitoring and alerting for production systems
Mid-level expertise with VXLAN, STP, ISIS, BGP, EVPN and MPLS
Experience with the following:
Network theory and services (TCP/IP, UDP/IP, 7 layers of OSI, DNS, DHCP)
Network hardware (firewalls, routers, switches, load balancers, transport gear)
Local and networked file systems (NFS, SMB, DFS, NTFS)
Video streaming theory, standards and concepts
Understanding of network security principles and best practices
Experience working on virtualised network environments (overlays)
Experience with network scripting and automation
Strong hands-on support of large WAN, LAN and MAN environments
3rd party interfacing and network-to-network connectivity experience
Experience implementing scalable, highly available and secure VPN environments
Experience developing automated methods to mitigate and remediate network events and minimise operational complexity
Experience in Media & Entertainment Technology networking and deploying and supporting Media Production environments with a studio or post production house is preferable
Standard business hours apply; however, flexibility is required to work outside normal hours where required including evenings, weekends and some public holidays. Participation in a rotating Level 3 on-call support schedule is also required.
