Power Your Future: Elevate is RSM's premier early career program, designed for high-performing accounting students who are leaders on their campuses and in their communities, with a passion for learning and growth
Through a dynamic three-day leadership conference and year-long development experience, participants will build lasting relationships with RSM professionals and peers from across the country while strengthening critical skills in communication, collaboration, business acumen, executive presence, technology and professional networking. Elevate provides meaningful opportunities to deepen industry knowledge, enhance leadership capabilities and develop the confidence needed to make an immediate impact in your internship and future career.
Conference:
Participate in a three-day leadership conference in one of RSM’s major office locations from January 5th – 8th, 2027 All travel and expenses for conference participation will be covered by RSM upon admittance into the program.
Continued development:
After completion of the Elevate conference, you’ll receive an opportunity to participate in continued development experiences designed to accelerate your professional growth through experiences that build the skills, relationships and business acumen needed to succeed at RSM and beyond.
Talent experience – Build meaningful connections with RSM professionals, firm leaders and peers while strengthening your communication, collaboration, networking and professional presence.
Skill development – Enhance critical skills in business acumen, problem-solving, presentation, feedback, time management and emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence.
Client experience – Develop industry knowledge and gain insight into the middle market through interactive experiences that strengthen relationship-building, communication and collaboration skills. Participants will explore how RSM professionals collaborate to deliver value and help clients address complex business challenges.
Program requirements:
Be currently enrolled in an accredited degree program in accounting.
Have an anticipated full-time associate start date of Fall 2029 or Winter 2030.
Have demonstrated involvement and leadership in student organizations on campus and in their community.
Be a team player with strong communication skills who is motivated to work in a fast-paced environment with a desire to be client focused and learn how to provide skilled advisory services
Maintain a minimum 3.4 GPA (preferred)

RISK CONSULTING – PROCESS RISK & CONTROLS – SUMMER 2028 INTERNSHIP
As a Risk Consulting Intern at RSM, you will work with various sized businesses in diverse industries and receive hands-on client experience with direct access to clients at various management levels. At the start of your internship you’ll be assigned a “Performance Advisor”, who will aide in your development throughout the internship experience.
RSM’s Risk Consulting Group provides value added risk assessment services to clientele and you will have the ability to be exposed to a wide variety of industries and clients. Examples of projects include internal audits, SOX/compliance work and financial reporting control projects intended to provide our clients with timely information on business operations and methods to mitigate potential risks.
Examples of the candidate’s responsibilities include:
Sit in on client meetings and support conducting consulting projects
Preparing reports on consulting services performed for clients; delivering reports where appropriate and discussing results and recommendations with clients
Traveling to client locations as requested to provide consulting services
Completing client projects efficiently in accordance with the project timeline and critical dates
Leveraging proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint to analyze client information and document results and recommendations
Opportunity to attend specific conferences, trainings, & meetings to continue professional development relevant to the role

Internship & Program Requirements
90 credit hours completed (at point of internship)
Working towards B.A. / B.S. degree or equivalent from accredited university
Major in Accounting
Travel to assigned client locations may be required. Must have access to and ability to arrange for use of reliable modes of transportation to those locations
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong computer skills, including MS Office
Strong multi-tasking and project management skills
Ability to work as an effective member of a team
Must possess a high degree of integrity and professionalism
Certification or working towards certification as a CPA (preferred but not required)

Internships and RSM Excellence Academy

Internships include orientation and training where interns will be prepared to work in client service through a combination of formal and informal training. Interns will recieve hands on expereince working with a variety of clients, while teaming up with RSM colleagues and leaders. RSM will provide interns with lunch-and-learn workshops, sporting events, and community service projects. Interns will gather with thier peers and co-workers to develop both personally and professionally. Interns ill be paired with both a navigator and a career advisor to help transition into their new role. The navigator is a peer aligned with you to help with questions. The career advisor ensures your experience meets your expectations and that you’re doing the right things to work toward that job offer.
The RSM Excellence Academy consists of a three-day summer leadership conference with a stipend and the opportunity to participate in an internship with RSM during the following summer. The Excellence Academy is open to all qualified students who are three years from graduation. The Excellence Academy is designed to align with RSM’s strategic pillar of driving an unrivaled, inclusive culture and talent experience. We recognize efforts of inclusivity and intend to develop outstanding business, accounting, and technology students for internships and full-time employment.
