We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Principal Systems Engineer – EW Pillar Lead supporting one of our premier programs in Aurora, CO. The successful candidate will have demonstrated expertise in team leadership, customer engagement, development of technical plans, satellite communications, communications links, link-budget analysis, spacecraft command and control, electronic warfare, and modeling and simulation. In this role, you will contribute to the development and assessment of resilient communications architectures and mission systems operating in complex, contested, and technically demanding environments. The work is on-site in Aurora, CO.

What You Will Do

• Design, analyze, simulate, and evaluate satellite communications systems and end-to-end communications architectures

• Analyze and evaluate space- and ground-based command and control architectures, interfaces, operational concepts, and performance requirements, as well as the employment of electronic warfare tactics, techniques, and procedures

• Model and assess communications system resilience in the presence of interference, jamming, spoofing, congestion, and other electronic warfare conditions

• Develop, model, and assess satellite communications links for space-to-ground, ground-to-space, space-to-space, and space-to-ground systems

• Perform and support system requirements development and system architecture development

Qualifications You Must Have

• Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) in a related field and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience

• Experience engaging with customers, building consensus among disparate groups, and leading technical teams from program startup through requirements sell-off

• Experience developing technical plans, OPSCON/CONOPs, and analysis supporting satellite operations

• Experience in satellite communications, aerospace communications, RF systems, or related engineering disciplines, including spacecraft command and control, telemetry, tracking and communications systems, and satellite ground terminals

• Active and transferable DoD TS/SCI U.S. government-issued security clearance is required after day 1 start date

Qualifications We Prefer

• Experience with complex communications link modeling, simulation, and performance analysis, including RF propagation, atmospheric effects, orbital dynamics, Doppler analysis, and antenna systems

• Experience with electronic warfare concepts and their effects on airborne or space-based communications systems, including resilient, anti-jam, low-probability-of-intercept, low-probability-of-detection, or frequency-agile communications

• Experience analyzing system-level performance and translating mission needs into technical requirements, including requirements development, interface control, verification and validation, and technical baseline management

• Experience with satellite communications standards, waveforms, protocols, and ground systems, as well as space-ground interfaces, mission operations, and spacecraft bus or payload architectures

• Master’s degree in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline and/or experience supporting government, defense, intelligence, or commercial space programs

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
