What We Are Looking For
Kinder Morgan, one of the largest energy infrastructure companies in North America, is seeking an Application Developer Analyst - GIS to join our Operational Support Group (OSG).
This position is part of a GIS and Engineering-focused application team that develops and supports enterprise solutions for approximately 79,000 miles of pipelines (natural gas, crude oil, gasoline, CO₂) and 139+ terminals. The team builds and maintains custom applications that support operations, engineering, and business functions across the organization.
We are looking for a candidate with a strong blend of application development, database expertise, and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) data management and development experience within a large multi-user versioned enterprise Esri implementation.
Responsibilities:
This role develops and supports enterprise GIS and operational applications used by pipeline engineering, integrity, project management (construction), and operations.
Core Responsibilities
- Support and enhance GIS-enabled applications and spatial data workflows integrated within line of business applications
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and support custom applications using .NET technologies
- Work with internal teams and third-party vendors to resolve technical issues and deliver solutions
- Develop, maintain, and optimize SQL Server databases that support business and operational applications developed within the team.
- Participate in project planning, provide status updates, and contribute to solution design
- Create and maintain documentation for systems, processes, and data flows
- Develop business and operational reports using SQL, SSRS, and Power BI
- Develop and maintain GIS web applications, services, and integrations
- Work with spatial datasets, map services, and feature services
- Integrate GIS capabilities with custom .NET applications and enterprise systems
- Troubleshoot production issues and provide after-hours support as needed
Qualifications:
What You Need
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, CIS, Engineering, or a related technical field
Experience
- 7+ years of relevant experience
Required Skills
GIS Development
- Strong experience with the Esri ArcGIS Pro, including Esri Traditional Versioning and ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript, ArcGIS Pro .NET SDK, and ArcPy
- Experience developing, configuring, and supporting GIS web applications and services using C# and Python
- Knowledge of spatial data models, geoprocessing tools, and map/feature services
- Experience integrating GIS capabilities with enterprise applications, databases, and data workflows
- Understanding of GIS architecture in an enterprise environment
Application Development
- Strong experience with .NET development (C#, VB.NET, or related technologies), MVC, Entity Framework, jQuery
- Experience supporting and troubleshooting large enterprise applications
- Strong understanding of system integration and data workflows
Database & Analytics
- Experience working with SQL Server databases
- Database design, development, and performance tuning
- Data import/export and transformation
- Esri SDE databases
- Optimize performance and support data integrations, with emphasis on APIs.
- Develop reporting solutions using Power BI and SSRS.
General
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Skills
- Experience with PODS (Pipeline Open Data Standard) data model implementations
- Understanding of pipeline and midstream business processes, asset data, and operational workflows.
- Experience developing or supporting GIS, application, and data management solutions for pipeline or midstream operations using ArcGIS Experience Builder and leveraging ArcGIS REST APIs
- Knowledge and/or experience with Esri Server-based technologies, including ArcGIS Enterprise / ArcGIS Portal / ArcGIS Online
- Experience supporting third-party/vendor applications, with priority given to candidates with Enterprise Architect and the Geonamic Tool Suite: Pipeline Office Studio, Data Alignment Tool, Alignment Sheet Generator, etc.
- Experience building web and desktop applications using .NET Core, MVVM, MVC, asp.net
- Familiarity with data visualization tools (SSRS, Power BI)
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Access
