Primary Purpose:
This individual is responsible to become a multi-skilled, independent and team-oriented analyst by BGE's customers, the Purchased Gas Costs, and the financial well-being of the corporation. Note: Position may be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.
Primary Duties:
- Process and reconcile incoming supplier invoices for natural gas purchases, transportation, storage, and related services, ensuring accuracy, compliance with contractual terms, and timely payment. (20%)
- Prepare, issue, and track customer invoices for natural gas sales, transportation, balancing, and other utility services, resolving billing discrepancies as needed. (20%)
- Coordinate with internal accounting, gas supply, operations, and external counterparties to investigate invoice variances, maintain accurate records, and support month-end financial close activities. (15%)
- Schedule and manage daily natural gas quantities across pipelines, storage facilities, and delivery points to ensure reliable service and compliance with contractual obligations. (15%)
- Monitor gas flows, nominations, confirmations, and imbalance positions, coordinating with pipelines, marketers, suppliers, and internal operations teams to resolve scheduling issues and maintain system reliability. (15%)
- Support business planning, budgeting, variance analysis, audit compliance, and reporting requirements. (15%)

Job Scope:
Gas Supply and Transportation has several analyst positions that have been designated as rotational assignments. Individuals are expected to acquire skill and knowledge in three functional areas within the department: Acquisition, Scheduling, Planning, Contract Administration, and End-User Transportation. Each of the areas requires the ability to compile and analyze business data, understand operational priorities and make appropriate decisions with limited supervision. A Sr. Analyst is expected to recognize the impact of decisions on other parts of the organization, e.g., Customer & Marketing Services, Electric Supply & Transmission, and Finance to ensure integration of activities for the Company. The Sr. Analyst also represents the Company's position when interfacing with external parties, e.g., pipelines, marketers, and regulatory agencies. A Sr. Analyst is expected to maintain an ongoing awareness of emerging interstate pipeline issues/projects on systems providing service to BGE.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field and 4-7 years of relevant experience, OR in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, 6-9 years of relevant experience.
- Ability to work independently or on a team managing projects with minimal supervision.
- PC skills: Knowledge of spreadsheets; Excel; Word; etc.
- 4-7 years job related experience.
- Excellent demonstrated skills in verbal and written communications.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills with ability to handle multiple projects.
- Knowledge of gas tariffs.
- Knowledge of pipeline and storage operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in natural gas scheduling, nominations and experience with pipeline electronic bulletin boards
- Experience handling invoicing and reconciling and validate supplier invoices, resolve billing discrepancies and finalize month-end balances
- Ability to communicate effectively with both internal stakeholders and external suppliers and schedulers

- Annual salary will vary based on a candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience, and other factors: $87,200.00/Yr. – $119,900.00/Yr.
