What You Will Do
Execute complex structural analysis via hand calculations, 2D and 3D finite element modeling, using the latest P&W Engineering Standard Work, analytical tools, and engineering judgement.
Provide oversight and technical guidance for less experienced engineers and outsourced tasks.
Perform structural analysis and provide analytical support through all design phases and provide support to manufacturing and operational services.
Use finite element and classical methods for strength, stress/deflection, vibration, fatigue life, residual life (fracture mechanics) prediction, damage tolerance, containment, kinematic and optimization analyses.
Support production and in-service field investigations.
Document analysis and present results and associated recommendation to integrated product teams, management, and customers.
Participate on multi-discipline integrated product teams as the structures expert, providing design solutions that balance customer requirements for performance, cost, schedule, and other requirements.
Develop and sustain a healthy work relationship based on mutual trust with peers, internal and external customers where significant interaction is expected.
Attend and have participation in group meetings, teleconferences and/or training required.
Based on business needs, the incumbent may be required to support other duties/functions within the company.
Actively participate in initiatives for continuous improvement using CORE tools and support AS9100 efforts.
Support structures community initiatives.
Travel is up to 10%.
English (read, write, speak) is required when communicating with customers, co-workers, or supervisors who only speak English.
Qualifications You Must Have
Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical or Civil Engineering
8 years of experience in engineering or an Advanced degree with 5 years of engineering experience
4 years of experience with structural analysis

Qualifications We Prefer
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
Experience working in the Aerospace Industry
Previous gas turbine experience
Team oriented and cultural awareness
Experience with ANSYS, Workbench, NX, CAD and FEA.
Demonstrated problem solving skills using FEM for stress/deflection, vibration, and performing LCF, HCF, Fracture Mechanics, Strength, Buckling or Kinematics analyses.
Experience managing projects or processes.
Experience mentoring and coaching mid-level engineers.

Compression Systems Engineering is responsible for the design, development, and in service support of all fans low-pressure and high-pressure compressors for commercial and military engine models. CSE is responsible for the identification and maturation of new technologies for these products.
